You Inspire us Kyrzayda
Have you ever met someone that immediately felt like your soul sister? Your twin walking around this earth; born at different times & from different parents?
That was Kyrzayda to me. The moment I ran into one of her photos on Instagram, I was inspired in so many ways. To be honest, I did a double take cause I thought it was one of my pics lol. In this day in age, it's easy to meet people over social media & feel such a connection with them, even if you've never actually met in real life. She was a dreamer & a goal-getter; spreading love & positivity on her page. Little did I know, shortly after following her, that she'd be posting her diagnosis & her new journey battling Cancer.
- We're both Dominican
- We're both part of the 'short hair don't care' gang
- Lovers of Fashion
- Both own and run an Online Boutique
- Both Bloggers
- We share a similar style....oversized edgy eclectic chic (If I really had to label it lol)
- Both residents of New Jersey...... amongst other things!
Sunday evening, as I scrolled through IG, I saw a picture of her posted by someone else that read "Rest in Peace". My heart dropped & I froze, as my eyes started to water up. I allowed myself a moment. I cried and I prayed that God would have her in his Glory. I have no doubt that she is no longer in pain and in a better place and that she is one of the most fashionable Angels in heaven.
I wanted to write this post in her honor and to share her story & strength with others. So, to my Soul Sister Kyrzayda, I can't wait to meet you one day. Thank you for sharing your style, your strength, your story and your beautiful soul with us!

Cool Blue
As I post this, it is currently a humid 96 degrees (but feels like 101) and I'm dreaming of this exact day back in March. I'm the opposite of a flower; I die in the summer & bloom in the fall. Unless I'm at the beach or a pool with a fruity drink in my hand, this Dominican gal is not about extreme heat.
This look was one of the last that I styled & photographed right before the beginning of Spring. There was actually still snow on the ground from the last winter storm we had. That mild weather where you can dress in layers under a jacket is perfection to me. In this look, I was rocking one of my wardrobe essentials, a leather jacket. My top was a trendy piece this past season, the multi-fabric trend. The body is a light weight sweater while the sleeves are made of standard button up fabric. The stripes and ruffles on the sleeves add to the mix-matched look, which makes for a unique fun fashion statement.
Never be afraid to have fun with your style!

Religion Influenced Fashion
Met Gala 2018
This year's Met Gala theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination". The gala is an annual themed extravagant event that takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in NY. Every year, attendees come out to show out. Out of all the red carpets, this is one of my favorites to watch. Simply, because anything is fair game. As customey as it may seem, nothing is "too much" at the Met Gala.
More is More!
At First, the theme seemed a bit controversy. Using religion as a theme? Will it come off as blatant disrespect or will it become something beautiful?!? But, when we think about it, culture is a huge influence on Fashion. Everything from music, religion, politics & nature influence what we wear & how we wear it; the ever-changing trends.
Take a look at some of the looks of the night!

Many of the featured designers in the exhibit were raised Catholic themselves. Some names include Dulce & Gabbana, Versace & Schiaparelli. Their designs sit alongside 41 pieces borrowed from the Vatican. Andrew Bolton, the exhibit's curator, says the exhibit is meant to "raise deeper and even more provocative contemplations about the role dress plays within the Roman Catholic Church and the role the church plays within the fashionable imagination. Throughout history, you can see how fashion is used to distinguish ranks in the Catholic Church. From gilded robes to embellished rosaries to modest robes worn by nuns to protect from vanity & lust.
This red carpet did not disappoint! Many women used some sort of halo or crown as an accessory. Most of the guys played it a bit more safe and classic while adding a pin, necklace or some sort of cross as an accessory. I personally wasn't sure what to expect from this theme....but I think, for the most part, attendees & their stylist did an awesome job executing!
What was your personal opinion on this years theme & who were your favorite looks of the night?
P.S. This exhibit is available to see at The Met from 5/10- 10/8... I personally won't be missing it!

Eclectic Elegance Fashion Show
Take 2!!!
And just like that, another Fashion Week has come & gone. I started the season off by attending Eclectic Elegance Fashion Show presented by RM67. The show took place at Indigo Bleu Design & Culture Center in Philadelphia. It showcased 5 collections; with Dah'mod Collins, of RM67, closing the show.
The 'Sold Out' show was full of great energy, vibrant attendees and eager supporters who came out to witness RM67's debut collection after taking a few years off of producing Fashion Shows. Needless to say, his first show back was a SUCCESS!!!
It is always exciting to attend Fashion shows & events, meet & network with new people, discover new designers & artists; BUT, this particular night was exceptionally exciting because Fashion Blogger @Dghramm, would be walking down the runway for Volare Menswear.
